Our Mission
The Social Science Major is strongly committed to serving the needs of adult learners who have not been served by higher education. The Major offers an undergraduate curriculum rooted in the liberal arts, clearly oriented to students’ educational needs, generally oriented to their professional development, and responsive to a changing economic, social and cultural environment. The Major also recognizes the need for post-baccalaureate and continuing education in the social sciences and related professions and is dedicated to providing access for adults to such programs. Firmly grounded in the values of Ignatius Loyola, the Major seeks to develop in its students a love of wisdom and a capacity for critical reflection, orienting them to professional leadership and social responsibility.
