Advising

Each degree-seeking student is assigned an academic adviser who will assist the student in schedule planning. Students are encouraged to meet with their advisers regularly during each term.

Evening and Weekend Courses

Classes are offered in a variety of formats and time frames, including accelerated educational formats, to fit the needs of working students. Typically, most classes meet one evening per week. A variety of classes are offered in an accelerated eight-week format. Several classes each semester are Internet assisted.

Most evening students attend on a part-time basis and carry six or nine credit hours. A student may not carry more than 12 credit hours unless he or she obtains permission from the dean of their respective college.

Tuition, Fees and Financial Aid

Recognizing the special financial needs of working students, Loyola has attempted to maintain a reasonable tuition at a level significantly lower than comparable day programs. This practice, in itself a form of financial assistance, does not preclude students from seeking assistance through the traditional financial aid programs. Financial aid is available to all eligible persons. Students who think they may be eligible must fill out the Financial Aid Form. Monthly tuition payment plans are also available. For further information call the Financial Aid Office at (504) 865-3231. Students who participate in an employer-sponsored tuition reimbursement program may apply to defer up to 90% of their tuition and fees until the end of the semester. Contact the Loyola Evening Division at (504) 865-3530 for details.

Leave of Absence

Students who find it necessary to “stop out” during the course of their studies must submit a Leave of Absence Form to the Office of Student Records. The leave is good for one year and will facilitate reentry. Previously enrolled students returning from an official leave of absence are subject to the policies of the official university bulletin under which they were last enrolled.
